Road Delineation & Visibility Hardware — Malaysia

Road studs, flexible delineator posts, cat-eye markers, solar amber warning lights and convex traffic mirrors — JKR/REAM-compliant supply across Malaysia. We can quote supply only or supply + install on site, so the work-zone hardware lands ready for inspection in one PO.

Quick answer

Road delineation & visibility hardware is the family of small permanent and semi-permanent fixtures that make a road or work zone legible to drivers — by day through colour and shape, at night through retroreflection or active lighting. Five product lines sit under this umbrella at Muhibah: road studs (RSD series, 3M-grade reflective), flexible delineator posts, cat-eye pavement markers, solar amber warning lights and convex traffic mirrors. Each item is JKR/REAM/ATJ-2C/85 compliant where the standard applies, sourced from our Bandar Baru Bangi facility, and shipped nationwide with 7–14 day lead time on standard quantities.

The differentiator most procurement teams ask about: Muhibah quotes supply only for buyers who already have an installation contractor, OR supply & install for buyers who want one accountable G7 CIDB-registered party from PO to JKR sign-off. The install scope covers site survey, layout-to-drawing, fixing (epoxy / mechanical anchor / surface-mount per substrate), as-built marking and JKR submission paperwork.

What every order includes

  • Compliance: JKR / REAM / ATJ-2C/85 specifications where applicable; CIDB G7 supplier accountability
  • Reflective grade: Class 1 / Class 2 retroreflective lenses or sheeting per the JKR road class
  • Lead time: 7–14 working days standard; rolling stock kept for road studs, cat-eyes and convex mirrors
  • Delivery: Nationwide — Klang Valley, Penang, Johor, East Coast, plus Sabah/Sarawak via RoRo
  • Service options: supply only OR supply & install (separately quoted) — choose per project resource
  • Installation surfaces: asphalt, concrete, paver — appropriate fixing method specified per item
  • Quantity discount: meaningful step at 100+ units; contract pricing for 1,000+ unit projects
  • Warranty: 12 months on manufacturing defects; reflective sheeting per supplier warranty

Road studs (RSD series) — 3M reflective & ceramic

Surface-mounted retroreflective markers fixed to the lane line or edge line of a road. Used on highways, federal roads, council roads and industrial site access roads to keep the lane discipline visible at night and in heavy rain.

Common Muhibah codes follow the pattern RSD-{grade}-{LxWxH} — for example RSD-3M-90x100x73 is a 3M-grade reflective stud, 90mm long × 100mm wide × 73mm high. Available in white (centre / lane-edge), yellow (median / no-cross), red (wrong-way exit gore), blue (fire-hydrant locator) and green (lay-by / safe stop).

  • 3M-grade reflective stud — bonded prismatic lens, ABS body, used on high-speed federal roads and expressways
  • Ceramic stud — heavy-duty cast body for industrial yards and heavy-vehicle routes; longer service life than ABS in compactor-heavy zones
  • Solar-active stud — embedded LED with a small solar cell; visible from 800m at night, useful at unlit highway turn-offs and curves

Send us the road class (federal / state / council / private), required colour combination, and quantity — we quote with the right reflective grade and a fixing method appropriate for the surface.

Flexible delineator posts

Vertical posts used to demarcate a lane, narrow median, turning circle or roundabout splitter. The flexible variant deflects when struck by a vehicle and returns to vertical, which avoids both vehicle damage and constant post replacement on impact-prone locations like exit gores and roundabout cores.

  • Heights: 600mm, 750mm, 900mm, 1000mm — picked per JKR submission and sight-line requirement
  • Shaft: polyurethane or HDPE — both UV-stabilised, both repeated-impact tolerant
  • Base: bolted to surface, epoxy-anchored, or rubber weighted (movable) depending on permanence
  • Reflective: Class 1 or Class 2 sheeting bands per JKR class
  • Application: highway exit gores, turning circles, roundabout splitter islands, narrow-median separation, school-zone channels

Cat-eye road markers

Pavement-embedded retroreflective markers — sit nearly flush to the road surface so they are unaffected by snowploughs (irrelevant in Malaysia) and trafficable at full speed without bump impact. The lane semantics for Malaysian roads:

  • White — centre line or lane line on most roads
  • Yellow — median or no-overtake line
  • Red — wrong-way / exit-gore warning
  • Blue — fire-hydrant locator (used on access roads to industrial sites)
  • Green — lay-by, safe-stop, public-transport pull-out

Embed depth and pocket dimensions match the JKR road-marking specification for the road class. Where the existing pavement isn't cored to receive the cat-eye, we can quote core-drill + epoxy fixing as part of the install scope.

Solar amber warning lights

Battery-free flashing amber LED lights for unlit work zones, junction approaches and rural turn-offs where running mains cabling is impractical. Charge by day from the integrated solar panel, flash by night through a dawn-dusk sensor.

  • LED: high-brightness amber, visible from 800–1,500m at night depending on optic
  • Battery: Li-ion or Ni-MH; typical autonomy 3–5 nights on no-sun reserve
  • IP rating: IP65 minimum (rain-tight); IP67 variants for flood-prone zones
  • Mount: post-top, gantry-mount or barrier-mount brackets
  • Application: work-zone advance warning, junction beacons, rural T-junctions, school-zone flashers

Convex traffic mirrors

Polycarbonate convex mirrors for blind junctions, factory exits, multi-storey car park ramps, narrow estate corners and warehouse loading bays — anywhere a driver needs to see around a wall or corner before pulling out.

  • Sizes: 600mm (residential / parking), 800mm (most factory exits), 1000mm (highway / industrial)
  • Material: PC (polycarbonate) — UV-stable, doesn't shatter; acrylic option for indoor use
  • Mount: post-mount with adjustable bracket; wall-mount with arm extension
  • Frame: red high-visibility plastic edge for daytime saliency
  • Hood: sun-rain hood available — extends optical clarity in direct sunlight

Supply + install — Muhibah's differentiator

Most road-delineation suppliers in Malaysia drop and run. Muhibah quotes supply only when that's what you want, but our install option is what most clients prefer when the project sits on a federal road, an MRT/LRT corridor or a JKR-approved permanent layout — because the same G7 CIDB-registered company that supplied the hardware also takes accountability for the layout, fixing and as-built submission.

What's in the install scope:

  • Site survey + layout marking against the approved drawing
  • Substrate-appropriate fixing (epoxy resin / mechanical anchor / surface-mount tape / core-drill embed)
  • On-site quality check — placement tolerance, retroreflectivity verification
  • As-built marked drawing and photo log for the project file
  • JKR / highway-concessionaire submission paperwork — handled directly with the authority
  • Re-attendance for snags within 30 days of install at no charge

Supply & install is quoted as a separate line on the BQ — buyers who already have an in-house installation contractor stay on the supply-only line.

Often specified together

Road delineation hardware tends to be ordered alongside a few sister product families. If your project crosses any of these scopes, we keep the multi-line BQ to a single PO:

Frequently Asked

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between a road stud and a cat-eye?
They are closely related but mounted differently. A road stud is surface-mounted (sits on top of the road, glued or bolted), about 10–25mm tall. A cat-eye is recessed (cored into the pavement so it sits nearly flush, typically <12mm above the surface). On low-speed roads either works; on high-speed federal or expressway roads cat-eyes are preferred because surface-mounted studs can be displaced by heavy traffic over long periods. Muhibah supplies and installs both.
Are Muhibah's road studs JKR-approved?
Yes. Standard road studs supplied by Muhibah meet JKR retroreflective specifications for the road class — Class 1 sheeting for council and state roads, Class 2 / High-Intensity Prismatic for federal roads and expressway shoulder lines. Test certificates are supplied with every order on request. For specific JKR submission, we provide the as-built drawing + retroreflectivity photometric data sheet.
Can I get a quote for supply only?
Absolutely. Two-line BQ is our standard format — line one is supply (with delivery to site), line two is supply & install (priced separately so you can pick). Buyers who have their own in-house contractor or who already have a separate fixing tender just take the supply line and the install line drops off automatically.
How fast can you deliver — we have a 1-week deadline?
For road studs, cat-eyes, convex mirrors and standard solar amber lights we keep rolling stock at our Bangi facility — same-day pickup or 1–3 day delivery to Klang Valley sites is normal. For larger orders (1,000+ units) or non-standard colour / size variants the lead time is 7–14 working days. Sabah and Sarawak deliveries add 5–10 days for sea freight.
What colour do I use for which lane?
Malaysian convention: white for the centre line and lane line on most roads, yellow for the median and no-overtake line, red for wrong-way warning at exit gores, blue for fire-hydrant locator on industrial estate roads, and green for lay-bys and public-transport pull-outs. If your TMP drawing specifies a different colour scheme (private estate, developer convention) we follow whatever the drawing says — we don't override drawings.
Solar amber light — how long does the battery last?
A standard Muhibah solar amber light runs all night on a single day's solar charge under typical Malaysian sun. The internal battery has 3–5 nights of no-sun reserve (continuous overcast). Battery service life is 18–24 months under normal Malaysian conditions; we offer replacement batteries through the same WhatsApp line. For longer-life applications (gantry-mount, highway beacons) we can quote the larger 12V deep-cycle variant with 7-night reserve.
What size convex mirror for a typical factory exit?
For most factory exits onto a 2-lane road in Malaysia, the 800mm convex mirror is the right size — wide enough to cover both directions of approach, small enough to fit standard mounting posts and not be visually obtrusive. 1000mm is used for industrial estates onto trunk roads (3+ lanes) or for multi-storey car park ramp egress. 600mm is for residential estates and tight narrow-corner parking aisles. WhatsApp the site photo or layout sketch for a sizing recommendation.
Do you only sell or also rent these items?
Muhibah focuses on supply and install — these items are typically permanent or long-term installations rather than rental fits. For short-duration event delineation (weekend events, one-off road-show) sister suppliers in Malaysia handle that rental scope. For all permanent and project-duration supply, Muhibah is the direct G7 supplier.
