About the partnership
The MOU establishes Muhibah Konsortium Holdings — the sole Malaysian distributor of Pi-Lit® smart-flare and smart-blinker technology — as LLM’s technology partner for advanced visibility and warning systems on selected highway sections. Pi-Lit’s patented sequential-LED system replaces traditional flares and static beacons with synchronized, far-more-visible warning patterns.
What Pi-Lit Smart-Blinker brings to highway safety
Conventional roadside warning lamps blink independently — visually noisy and easy for approaching drivers to misread. Pi-Lit’s sequential pattern creates a clear directional cue that motorists instinctively interpret as “keep away” or “merge here.” The reduction in driver confusion is most valuable at night and in rain, where conventional warning equipment often fails to register at safe stopping distances.
Specific advantages for LLM’s expressway application:
- Higher daytime + nighttime visibility than traditional warning lamps
- Sequential-flash patterns communicate direction unambiguously
- Solar-powered options for unattended deployment in remote sections
- Reusable — rechargeable units replace single-use flares, lowering long-term cost
- USA-manufactured, used on US Department of Transportation work zones
Watch: Pi-Lit smart-blinker sequence demo during LLM presentation
The video below shows the Pi-Lit sequential-LED pattern in action — demonstrated by Muhibah’s General Manager Mr Kumar during the LLM presentation. Note how the synchronized blink pattern reads as direction rather than just “flashing”:
LLM × Muhibah × MMU collaboration
The MOU has since extended into a wider LLM Kumpulan Inovatif & Kreatif 2024 innovation programme, jointly with Multimedia University (MMU), focused on advanced road-safety illumination — including the Beacon Blaze on-the-go illuminator developed under this partnership.
What this means for Malaysian road safety
Through this partnership, Muhibah and LLM are positioning Pi-Lit smart-blinker as a recognised tool in Malaysia’s highway-safety toolkit. The technology is now being evaluated and adopted across LLM’s work-zone protocols, with Muhibah handling local supply, training and after-sales support.
The relationship also opens further industry conversations — with Pi-Lit since accepted by MIROS (Malaysian Institute of Road Safety Research) and adopted by DBKL for Kuala Lumpur road operations.
