About DBKL
DBKL (Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur) is the local authority responsible for the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur — managing roads, traffic, public works, licensing and urban planning across the city. Equipment acceptance by DBKL allows the technology to be specified for tenders and used on DBKL-supervised road works, traffic-management operations and emergency response.
The joint presentation with LLM
The acceptance came after Muhibah Konsortium Holdings and LLM (Lembaga Lebuhraya Malaysia) jointly presented Pi-Lit smart-blinker technology to DBKL stakeholders. The joint format was significant: it brought together the highway authority’s field experience (LLM having signed an MOU with Muhibah on Pi-Lit deployment) with the urban-road decision-makers (DBKL).
The presentation focused on:
- Visibility advantages over conventional warning lamps in dense urban environments
- Sequential-LED patterns that direct driver attention rather than just flashing
- Reusability over single-use flares — lower long-term cost
- Solar-powered options for unattended deployment
- Field deployment learnings from LLM’s expressway use
What DBKL acceptance enables
With DBKL acceptance, Pi-Lit smart-blinker becomes a viable equipment option for:
- DBKL-supervised road works across Bukit Bintang, KLCC, Cheras, Setapak and other KL districts
- Police-coordinated traffic-management at major events
- Emergency response and accident-scene management
- Tender specifications for KL road-improvement contracts
