What is a JKR-standard sign?
A JKR sign is a road sign manufactured to the specification of Malaysia's Public Works Department (Jabatan Kerja Raya), governing dimensions, colour, reflective sheeting grade, mounting method and copy (the wording). JKR SPJ/S19 and ATJ2C-85 Pindaan 2017 define requirements for temporary work-zone signage on federal roads. Using non-compliant signs on a JKR project can cause the works to fail inspection and delay payment.
JKR vs REAM: which standard should I order?
JKR signs are for federal-road and state-government works — mandatory when working under JKR contracts.
REAM (Road Engineering Association of Malaysia) signs follow REAM Guidelines for temporary work-zone signage. These are widely used on highways, private construction sites and projects where the Main Contractor specifies REAM compliance.
If you're unsure which your project requires, check the TMP (Traffic Management Plan) or your contract — it will specify. If still unclear, WhatsApp us your project details and we'll advise on the correct specification before you commit to an order.
