Traffic Management for Highway Gantry Installation Works

Your gantry contractor handles the steel, the foundation and the install. We handle the work zone — TMP design, JKR/concessionaire approvals, certified TMOs and ERT crews, cones, shadow vehicles, overnight lane closures. Single-source TM scope for your installation team.

We’re the TM partner for your gantry job

What we do (and what we don’t)

Installing a highway gantry — whether cantilever or full-span portal — requires extended overnight lane closures on active expressways and federal roads. Muhibah does not fabricate gantries, manufacture sign panels, or erect steel structures. What we do is the traffic management scope around your installation: getting Polis Trafik, JKR or concessionaire (PLUS, Litrak, Prolintas, KESAS, etc.) approvals, deploying certified TMOs and ERT crews, supplying the cones, signage, shadow vehicles and water tankers, and running the work zone safely from MCA window opening to handover. One TM contract, one project manager, one accountability line — so your fabrication and lift teams can focus on the structure.

1. TMP design + submission

JKR-template Traffic Management Plan for the closure, closure-staging diagrams, MCA window plan.

2. Approval coordination

Polis Trafik deployment letter, JKR or concessionaire engineering approval (PLUS, Litrak, Prolintas, KESAS, etc.). Typically 2–4 weeks.

3. Certified crew deployment

TMO/CTMO bertauliah, supervisors, flagmen, TMDT drivers — per JKR/REAM staffing requirements for the lane count and shift.

4. Equipment supply

Class 1 / Class 2 reflective cones, T-series signage, shadow vehicles, TMDT lorries, water tankers, ERT vehicles — from our owned fleet.

5. Overnight execution

Lane closure during MCA window (typically 10pm–5am). Setup 2–3 hours pre-window, ERT on standby throughout, structural team works inside the protected zone.

6. Close-out + documentation

Lane reopening clearance, photo-documented closure log, ERT activity report, handover pack for concessionaire/JKR acceptance.

FAQ

Traffic Management for Gantry Works — FAQ

What is a highway gantry sign structure?
An overhead steel frame spanning one or more highway lanes, supporting directional or informatory road signs visible to all lane users. Used on Malaysian expressways (PLUS, Litrak, Prolintas, LPT2, KESAS, SPRINT) and federal roads where ground-mounted signs would be obstructed or insufficiently visible. Two main types: cantilever gantry (one upright, span 1–2 lanes) and full-span portal gantry (two uprights, span 3–6 lanes).
Does Muhibah manufacture or install gantry structures?
No. Muhibah is a Traffic Management contractor — we do not fabricate gantry steel, build foundations, or erect overhead structures. What we provide is the traffic management scope during your gantry installation: TMP design, Polis Trafik / JKR / concessionaire approvals, certified TMO and ERT crews, lane-closure equipment, and on-site supervision of the work zone. Your gantry contractor or steel fabricator handles the structure; we handle the safe-closure scope around them.
What approvals do you handle for a gantry installation?
For the traffic management scope: Polis Trafik deployment letter for the lane closures, JKR TMP approval (federal/state roads), and concessionaire engineering approval for closure on highways (PLUS, Litrak, Prolintas, LPT2, KESAS, SPRINT). Typically 2–4 weeks from submission to approval. We coordinate the MCA (Maintenance & Construction Allocation) window booking with the concessionaire's operations team. Your gantry/structural contractor handles the structural design approval separately.
How long is the closure for a gantry install?
Cantilever gantry: typically a single overnight closure (10pm–5am). Full-span portal: usually 2 consecutive nights. Muhibah deploys 2–3 hours before the MCA window opens to set up cones, signage and shadow vehicles, then maintains the closure throughout — including ERT standby, mid-shift adjustments, lane reopening at MCA close, and morning sweep. Your structural team works inside the protected zone; we run the work-zone TM around them.
How much does TM for a gantry installation cost?
Pricing is project-specific — varies by closure duration, lane count, MCA window timing, and equipment requirements (cones, shadow vehicles, ERT vehicles, water tanker, certified crew size). WhatsApp +6012-351 3349 with the gantry location, target install dates, and the road authority or concessionaire for a quote.
Can you provide TM for VMS-equipped gantries?
Yes. We don't manufacture or integrate VMS panels — that's your gantry contractor's scope — but we provide TM during VMS-gantry installation the same as a standard gantry: lane closures, ERT, certified crew, equipment supply. ITS (Intelligent Transport System) protocol coordination with the concessionaire's traffic-control room is handled by the gantry/VMS contractor.
